Excuse me while I kick myself for not booking a flight to LA in time for Refinery 29's East/West Tag Sale. In addition to skipping out on Thursday's kick off party, I also missed out on the debut of Clare Vivier's CAMP VIVIER collection at 50% off. 50% OFF?! Now that's just not fair. The collection is available online of course but I don't really have the money to spend at the moment. Oh well. I'd originally been saving up for the messenger bag but I may just end up changing my mind when I get the money for this one. BF's sister actually has the all leather Tropézienne bag in brown but I think I'd prefer the canvas one because of the color contrast. What do you think? Should I save up for my original bag or go for the summer-friendly canvas tote? If you haven't already had the chance, check out the rest of Clare Vivier's collection and her blog.

Overall I think I prefer the messenger bag but both are nice.
I like the messenger more, mainly because you could wear it over the shoulder (like the tote) or cross-body. I think you'll get more use out of it.

dude, ever since you posted the messenger bag on tumblr, i've been obsessing over it. it's my favorite for sure. but honestly, all of her stuff is amazing and i bet you'd be happy with any of it!
i would go with the messenger... it seems more functional... this one is very pretty, but i would stick to the original plan!

From her collection i´d choose the flat work tote or the french linen zip sac... but from these two i´d prefer the canvas one to the messenger, because of the eye-catching details and contrast. Concerning the price i´d take none of them, buy some leather straps, silk and canvas and sew a similar one but one-of-a-kind :)

I have the original Trop and the Navy Messenger (my credit card bill haunts me...) and I love both. I don't know that I could really weigh in an opinion because of that, but I looooooove the new canvas look of the Trop. Best of luck :)

Hmm, I, personally, like the canvas bag better for summer, but if we're talking long-term, than the messenger would do the job. So, it depends on what you're looking for, best option would be to get both :P, of course.

i just visited clare's studio to pick up the messenger bag (in gray). i left her with the messenger bag and the leather trop in black. i love the messenger - it's a great entry level vivier.
