A couple snapshots from dinner prep last Friday, I tried to record a video but my dying battery wouldn't let me. Oh well. I'm sure most of you are wondering what kind of people would even think of consuming something as cute as a rabbit; even I had to pause and second guess what we were about to do. I've had rabbit at restaurants but actually handling and cooking one turned out to be quite the experience. Well, granted I didn't do much but squirm and deal with BF teasing me incessantly about the dutch oven being a "bunny crematorium" (haha?) and jumping around imitating a rabbit (no, just no). Beyond that, the finished product was definitely worth it and was O-M-G delicious.
For anyone who is interested, we picked up our rabbit at Mission Market Fish & Poultry which is two blocks away from BF's apartment and is, in my opinion, probably the best place to go to for meat in the area. The recipe we used is from a New York Times article which has pretty straightforward step-by-step instructions. The article is a good read as well, I recommend it. Also, umm... I know I said that I didn't do much in the previous paragraph but I don't think it was clear enough that I did not cook this. I know I've said this multiple times but BF is the one who cooks in our relationship! I beat him at desserts and baking, so I suppose it evens out...

you are sick and twisted.
okay, not really, this looks pretty freaking good. i'd have to taste it to determine if it was really worth cooking roger rabbit, though...... :)
It looks very yummy, though i never had habbit...

Yum this look amazing! When I was younger I had 2 pet bunnies and I convinced myself that I would never eat rabbit but I have to admit that I definitely would try this and probably would eat almost anything. Did you actually get a whole rabbit similar to when you get a whole chicken, the whole body? I'm also curious about what it tastes like, similar to other types of meat or does it have a distinct 'rabbity' flavor?

It looks great, and thanks for the link to the NYT article. I was just reading through the Moro East cookbook which has recipes for rabbit, pigeon, etc., and thinking that it would be very hard for me to find rabbit where I live. The fresh pasta looks great too!
This looks amaaaazing! Also, my Granddad cooked rabbit for me once and it was pretty darn fantastic, so while I don't eat it all the time, i'd definitely try this...

hmm interesting i dont think i'd ever eat rabbit, although i probably have before knowing my dad, he probably just told me it was "chicken" (like he did with frog and turtle -_-) and i USED to have a rabbit so I'd feel super bad....BUT my mom did get me a rabbit fur bracelet so.............ok nvm haha
Earlier this year I had my first taste of rabbit..which is awful because they're one of my favorite animals. It was paired with scallops in a super conceptual dish so I'm not sure if I experienced the flavor that much but it was still so delicious..I've been meaning to eat some again.
that pasta looks incredible! yummyyummy!
